A message from Djirra CEO Antoinette Braybrook AM:
One year ago today, the Voice to Parliament referendum delivered a message loud and clear.
6.2 million people across this country stood with us in the YES.
This was a powerful moment for our people, and one we KNOW will lead to change.
While the outcome is not what we had hoped for, Djirra is not deterred.
Djirra REMAINS in the YES because Aboriginal women and their children deserve better.
We remain loud, proud and unapologetic in our fight for a self-determined future where Aboriginal women and their children are safe, heard and thriving in culture and identity.
For 65,000 years, our people have been the world’s most resilient culture. We have stayed the distance since invasion, and we will not STOP.
WE are committed to the principles of the Uluru Statement – Voice, Truth and Treaty
Djirra invites you, our supporters to stand and walk with us to bring the change that all the people in our country so deserve. We INVITE YOU to listen to Aboriginal women, amplify our voices, share our calls.
And we INVITE YOU TO BE A PART OF DJIRRA’S STORY now and into the future. You can do this by making a donation to support Aboriginal women’s SELF DETERMINATION.
We INVITE YOU to join us and back in our calls for government investment in supporting us to realising our vision for Victoria’s first Aboriginal Women’s Centre.
Walk with Djirra in the YES. Aboriginal women and their children deserve better.
