Are you a passionate legal professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to culturally safe, client-centred practice? Djirra is looking for two Managing Lawyers to join our growing Legal Services team, helping to lead service delivery across Regional Victoria.

The successful candidates can be based in any one of our regional Djirra locations (Bendigo, Echuca, Mildura, Morwell, Shepparton, Traralgon or Warrnambool).

In this pivotal leadership role, you’ll provide strategic direction, hands-on support, and expert supervision to a dedicated team delivering holistic legal support to Aboriginal women. You’ll help build and maintain a positive, empowered team culture while ensuring our services meet all legal, professional, and accreditation standards.

As a key member of Djirra’s Legal Services leadership team, you’ll work closely with the Legal Practice Manager to deliver impactful, culturally safe legal assistance that supports Aboriginal women and their families.

Practice & Workforce Development Lead (Sexual Harm) - Abbotsford (part time - three days per week, fixed term to December 2026) SCHCADS Level 7 Pay Point 1 $119,093.00 pa (FTE)

The Sexual Harm Practice and Workforce Development Lead will coordinate the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Sexual Assault Pilot (SAP), part of the Victims Legal Service Extension Pilot (VLSP) Program.

The VLSP is a partnership between Victoria Legal Aid, Women’s Legal Services Victoria and Djirra, delivering free legal advice and support to women who have experienced sexual harm.

Based in the People and Learning team, this role strengthens culturally safe responses for Aboriginal women who have experienced sexual harm, builds workforce capability across frontline and leadership teams and represents Djirra in external SAP working groups and stakeholder forums.

Koori Women's Place (KWP) Senior Support Worker - Traralgon (full time, ongoing) SCHCADS Level 5 Pay Point 1 $100,776.00 pa

This position will contribute to the provision and delivery of a culturally appropriate support service which assists Aboriginal women who are experiencing or at risk of family violence.

You will work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to identify their needs, provide immediate and short-term responses and information and support to be referred to Djirra services (e.g. such as material aid, case management, legal services and counselling), as well as referrals to external agencies. Where there are immediate family violence safety concerns, you will apply your experience and understanding of cultural and personal safety to identify risk, support warm referrals for a family violence risk assessment and develop immediate safety plans, in consultation with others in the Community Engagement Team.

Your role as a Senior Support Worker will support the KWP Coordinator to build a culturally appropriate and safe environment for Aboriginal women to gather and to attend events, activities and programs aimed at empowering women with knowledge, friendship and support. You will mentor the KWP Support Worker/s in your team, to build their confidence and capability in performing their roles.

You will coordinate and assist with the delivery of the KWP’s annual program of activities, both online and face to face ensuring that the activities run smoothly and connect with the cultural, social and personal interests of Aboriginal women.

You will be right for this job if you are an energetic person who enjoys group work and demonstrates warmth, humour and flexibility.
