Marion Hansen

Marion is a Gamilaroi woman (a clan of the Kamilaroi Nation) from Moree NSW.

Marion has worked in various positions within the Aboriginal community for more than 40 years. In the early 1990’s Marion was elected to the Aboriginal &Torres Strait Island Commission, serving four terms, including two terms as Victorian Commissioner.

Subsequently Marion worked in a number of organisations, including Galiamble Men’s Rehabilitation Centre based in St Kilda, Ngwala Willumbong, Department of Health and Frankston City Council.

Marion has taken a lead role in advocating for the prevention of family violence in Aboriginal communities. Marion’s leadership in this area is well recognised through her representation on key state-wide forums.
