The AFVLS MEL journey continues.....
What has happened so far?
1. Evaluation Needs Assessment - completed
We have a clear picture of how data collection, entry, analysis, reporting, reflection and learning happens and the strengths and gaps.
2. Report and Recommendations - completed
We have clear direction on what we need to improve and how to improve
What now?
3. Rolling out the action plan - in progress
Step 1: Clean up CLASS!
Over the next few months we will have a CLASS guru, otherwise known as Kieran Prendergast, joining AFVLS to help us:
- Map our external and internal evidence needs to existing CLASS data fields
- Create custom fields to fill identified data gaps
- Simplify existing data entry forms and process
- Review SHIP data gaps
- Build a suite of DIY reports for AFVLS reporting needs
- Develop key data entry training material and provide training to staff
- Provide reports development training
Kieran is currently the Data Standards Project Manager at the Federation of Community Legal Centres, in addition to running his own Evaluation consulting business and has a wealth of expertise in all things CLASS. Kieran will continue to work 4 days a week at the Federation while undertaking a 25 week consultancy (1 day a week) with AFVLS. Kieran starts on Wednesday 27th March (tomorrow!).
Kieran will be based in Northcote each Wednesday throughout the duration of the project. Kathryn will also be working from Dale’s office this Wednesday and on future Wednesdays on an as needs basis to assist with completion of the CLASS project.
We will have an afternoon tea for Kieran on Wednesday 3rd April 2019. In the meantime, please make Kieran feel welcome, however please hold back all your CLASS questions as this project is specifically focused on CLASS cleaning and set up. Kieran will be providing CLASS training to all legal staff once the cleanup is completed, so there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions at that time.
In parallel with Kieran’s project we will also be holding consultation sessions to receive staff input on intake forms, client feedback and collection of case-studies and qualitative data. Please watch this space for consultation group invites!
Thanks to all staff for all their valuable input so far,
AFVLS MEL Working Group
