FVPLS Victoria would like to wish you much joy and happiness this holiday season and to thank you for your generous contribution to our organisation in 2017.
Nationally, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women remain 32 times more likely to be hospitalised because of family violence than non-Indigenous women and are 10 times more likely to die from violent assault than other women.
With thanks to your support, FVPLS Victoria has continued our important work to increase the safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence in 2017, our 15th year of standing firm against family violence.
Your support has meant that we can continue to provide:
- culturally safe, holistic family violence legal services and non-legal support
- early intervention and prevention programs facilitated in communities across Victoria, supporting all Aboriginal women to develop resilience and improve community safety
- policy and advocacy work to campaign for law reform to address systemic issues, resulting in strengthened law and justice outcomes for Aboriginal victims and survivors of family violence.
We are grateful to have had you stand with us this past year. Together, we have made a difference in the lives of over 1,500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. If you would like to read more about our organisations achievements in 2017, you can read our Annual Report 2016-17.
On Saturday 3 March 2018, our organisation will mark our 15 year anniversary with a Gala celebration to take place at Peninsula A @ Docklands in Melbourne.
