Job opportunities

Intake and Assessment Worker - Abbotsford and Melton (full time or part time (0.8), ongoing) SCHCADS Level 4.1 $82,045.60 pa

Individual Support Services (ISS) delivers a high-quality response to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children, who are currently experiencing or have experienced family violence and are at risk of further harm. The team’s interventions range from short-term crisis responses to longer term, intensive case management.

The Intake and Assessment team is the first point of call for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women when they contact Djirra in person, via phone or email. The Intake and Assessment Workers work collaboratively using a client-centred approach, through a trauma-informed lens to undertake a needs assessment and family violence risk screening and assessment. They work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to identify their needs, provide immediate and short-term responses, and direct them to the right services (eg. internal supports such as material aid, case management, legal services and counselling or connection with our Koori Women’s Place (KWP), as well as referral to external agencies).

We have two positions on offer for the Intake and Assessment Worker role, one at Djirra Head Office located in Abbotsford and one at our Djirra Melton Centre located in Melton.

Compliance and Risk Officer - Collingwood (part time (0.8), ongoing) SCHCADS Level 5.1 $93,858.96 pa - 5.3 $98,111.52 pa - dependent on experience

This role offers a great opportunity to be part of a small team, engage across all levels of the organisation, and do diverse, interesting work. The position reports to the Governance Risk & Compliance Manager in the Corporate Services Directorate.

You will support Djirra in meeting our many compliance obligations and managing risk. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop into providing support for our Board and/or its Committees. Success in this role will draw on your strong interpersonal, communication, administration, and organisational skills, along with your knowledge of good corporate governance principles.

Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Traineeship - Abbotsford (full time or part time, fixed term - 12 months) SCHCADS Level 4.1 - $82,045.60 pa

In collaboration with the Department of Health, The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) traineeship program has been developed to provide on the job work experience and paid study to provide Community members with an opportunity to enter the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector in Victoria.  The trainee will undertake a structured learning, professional development and on the job training over a 12-month period, either full time or part time within Djirra’s Individual Support Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs team. The Individual Support Services provides specialist family violence case management to Aboriginal women who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and are at risk of further harm from family violence. This work includes interventions ranging from short-term crisis responses to longer-term intensive case-management.

The trainee will work alongside Djirra’s AOD practitioners, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to reduce the harm incurred by alcohol and other drug use and their level of risk from family violence. The trainee will be provided with opportunities to observe the delivery of Djirra’s other services including legal, prevention and early intervention, informal cultural support at Koori Women’s plan and the provision of support and legal services to women in prison. Candidates must not currently be enrolled in tertiary education.
