NAIDOC week Projection project

This year Djirra will be marking NAIDOC week by lighting up our Abbotsford office building with a digital storytelling projection project celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and healing Country.

At Djirra healing Country means healing women, healing children, healing families and healing communities.
The pathway to healing is through cultural connectedness to Country.

“Healing is about building Aboriginal women’s safety and resilience. Our focus is strength-based with a strong cultural focus. Everything we do is by Aboriginal women and for Aboriginal women – Aboriginal women’s business.

Aboriginal women and Aboriginal mothers and their children are our priority. For Country to be strong and healthy our people must be strong and healthy. We must address the high rates of violence and ensure women and children are safe and supported, put an end to women’s imprisonment and to the high removal rates of our kids in out-of-home care.

Djirra is a place where all Aboriginal women can feel safe and connected with other Aboriginal women. Healing is not just about recovering what has been lost or repairing what has been broken. Healing is about strengthening our connection to culture and identity, that keeps us strong going forward into the future.”  – Antoinette Braybrook CEO

This is a free event.

You can view the projection at 292 Hoddle St Abbotsford every evening from dusk ‘til dawn from Monday July 5th until Thursday July 8th.
